Kissamos is set in beautiful landscapes on the west of Crete and has about 15.000 inhabitants. As anywhere on Crete its history goes far back and its myths and traditions are still alive.
The special characteristic if the city was a Venetian fortress (Castello) from which Kastelli owns its name, because Crete had many places with the name Kastelli, the city was named Kastelli Kissamou as a distinction.
Life passes quietly and you forget the noise of the city in its good hotels of all classes, apartments and private rooms.
Its hospitality and tourist facilities with a Cretan atmosphere provide whatever the visitor needs.
