Georgioupoli

The seaside settlement of Georgioupolis is situated on the northern coast of Chania (Hania) prefecture, overlooking the Cretan Gulf. The region is surrounded by grassy hilly areas and the deep blue sea mostly of clean water.

Georgioupolis is well-known for its long sandy beach and its river that runs into the sea. It is ideally located, as it is just a 30 minute drive to Rethymnon. (Rethymno) Town and a 45 minute drive to Chania (Hania) Town.

Once a quiet fishing village, it has recently developed into a wonderful holiday resort with an organized tourist infrastructure that offers visitors a wide selection of tavernas, cafe, shops and other tourist oriented venues.
Visitors of Georgioupolis can explore the ancient city of Amfimalla, see the Kournas cave with its collection of stalactites and stalagmites or hike through the impressive Inbrou canyon.
